In this recipe we explain exactly how you can easily make your own honey mustard dressing. Delicious with salads or, for example, with ham. An example is this mackerel salad.
Many kitchen terms come from French, an exception seems to have been made for dressing. It literally means “to make” and that is exactly what a good dressing does with your salad.
For almost every dressing, you use 1 part vinegar (or, for example, lemon juice) and 3 parts oil. Very often a so-called emulsifier is added to dressing, so that the oil and liquid bind. That can be an egg yolk, as used in mayonnaise, but mustard is also perfectly suitable as an emulsifier.
Since we find the ratio 1:3 quite acidic, adding a spoonful of honey is the way to create more balance. With that you immediately have almost all the ingredients for the famous combination of honey and mustard.
You can also use lemon juice, apple cider vinegar or natural vinegar instead of red wine vinegar.
